TCIrishMusic.com and the Twin Cities Irish Music Podcast was founded in early 2010 by Michael
Sturm, from
The Langer's Ball,
The page was started with the belief that we have an exceptional community
of Irish Musicians in Minnesota, and we wanted to shine a spotlight on the
amount and the quality of talent that some just think of as
"normal".
The goals of TCIrishMusic.com include:
Creating a one-stop on-line resource for lovers of
Irish music, that they might find out when and where Irish music is
happening. With Irish and Celtic Music happening almost every night
of the year in Minneapolis & St. Paul, and usually going on for free, we
believe that a site like this one, could assist fans and newcomers alike
to seek out and find great Irish Music, the likes of which many don't get
to see.
Helping to create a community of musicians, and linking
them together. With such a large community of Irish Musicians in MN,
it's hard to meet and know everyone, but we hope this site will allow
Irish Musicians to connect with one another throughout the Minneapolis/St.
Paul area and through al of Minnesota.
Expose fans of Irish & Celtic Music to the wide variety
of Celtic influenced music available to them through means of the
Twin Cities Irish Music Podcast. Because there is no one-type of
Irish Music, we want fans to find the Irish Pubs or Irish Bands that are
right for them, in hopes that fans will show up and be hooked into the
great scene of Irish Music in the Twin Cities and beyond.
We hope that The Twin Cities will be synonymous with
Irish Music in the same way that New Orleans is with Jazz, and Chicago is
with Blues, Nashville and Country Music and... well you get the point!
We also hope that by turning more people on to Live
Irish Music in the Twin Cities, that we might lobby new establishments to
include Irish and Celtic music in their business plans, and to encourage
existing businesses to start up their our night of Celtic Music, thus
further expanding the reach of Irish Music in Minnesota.
